RingFit Adventure X BotW

Exercise and save Hyrule at the Same time!

The RingFit Adventure Mod Meets Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Picture
Nintendo released yet another Exercise controller. This time it's for a game called "RingFit Adventure". Unlike previous exercise controllers (which were gimmicky at best), this controller actually tracks multiple exercises. Running, Squating, Arm raises, abs crunches, you name it, Nintendo Figured it out. I wondered if I could get this controller to work on multiple games. I'm not as big as a whole company but my scale in the restroom said I was so this was an opportunity to help me with weight loss. I've take on the task to figure out how possible this mod is and wanted to share it with everyone!

Hardware needed to Play

Here's the following hardware you need for this version of the mod:
  • Titan Two - Amazon Link ($95)
    • The Titan Two is an input converter. Mostly used to help kids script for games but it's the only tool I've found that can take in joycon gyro and accelerometer and allow me to control the inputs.
    • Website for Titan Two
  • Titan Two Wireless Expansion Kit - Amazon ($45)
  • RingCon and Leg Strap - Amazon ($80)
    • I think this is the only legitimate way to purchase the RingFit Adventure controller. No one else is selling the joycons

Current Version: 1.0

In this version we made a method in which you don't have to run to use all of the buttons. Now squatting and holding the "plus" button will activate the Menu in the game! This hasn't been tested thoroughly so DM me on Twitter (@SuperLouis_64) if there are any big issues.

Download Script for the Titan Two:
  • GTunerIV: Software to load script to Titan Two
  • Download the .gpc from GitHub: https://github.com/SuperLouis64/RingfitAdventure-BotW-Mod
  • Load the Code onto the GTuner IV.

What this version does:
  • Running let's you run in game
  • Squating Pauses the Game
  • Swinging the Joycon activates
  • Gyro aiming with ringcon
  • Face buttons still work without running!

How to play Zelda: Breath of the Wild with a Ringfit Controller

If you came from the video, here's a text version on how to use the RingFit Controller Mod for your Switch. Let's get right into it.

Setting Up the Titan Two
Before starting the mod, you'll need to load my .gcp script onto the Titan Two. Make SURE you have the wireless Expansion kit installed onto the titan two or you're going to have a bad time.
  1. Install and open the GtunerIV software onto your PC
  2. Connect your Titan Two to your PC
    1. Use the PROG USB slot
  3. On the GTunerIV, Open the .gpc file downloaded from the top of this page
  4. Click on the "Install active work to memory Slot" (green arrow pointing down into a slot) and move the .gpc to a memory slot
    1. This is the slot you must change to on the Titan Two
You should be ready to now plug in the Titan Two into the Nintendo Switch!

Connecting the Titan Two to your Nintendo Switch
Here's how you can connect your converter to your switch. If you need more information, go to the Titan Two's Switch Webpage.
  1. Turn on the "Pro Controller Wired Communication" for your Nintendo Switch
    1. Navigate to your Switch's System Settings
    2. Navigate to the section labeled "Controllers and Sensors"
    3. Locate the "Pro Controller Wired Communication" option and turn it on
  2. Connect your Titan Two to your Nintendo Switch
    1. Use the OUTPUT port
  3. Press and hold the Titan Two's UP button (arrow to the left of the LED)
  4. On Each Joycon, press and hold the Sync button until they activate
    1. Once Synced, connect the joycons to the Leg strap and the RingCon
  5. On the Titan Two, press the Up or Down button until the LED reflects the number the script was loaded on to.
  6. Hooray! Now you can play any game with my script! (It works for BotW, have fun using it for any other game because it may not work)
If you need any assistance, always feel free to message me on twitter: @Super_Louis64
Below is a picture guide for the steps above!

Plans for the Future: Version 1.1

There are some bugs in this version of the mod:
  • Running algorithm is bare-bones
  • It cost wayyyy to much to start up
  • Squatting is a bit off
I just updated the script to make it more user friendly. Finally made the squat feature work more consistent by adding a button combo to prevent random squat inputs. I'll update the YouTube tutorial at some point but the code is on my GitHub now!

Thanks for the Support!
