How to Dance on Consoles

We can dance if we want to we can leave your friends behind

The Texas Two-Step

One of my favorite controllers will finally get a tutorial! It's super fun to play with but also really challenging as you are psychically active during the whole playthrough. On this page we will go over how to use the Dance Pads on Consoles which will require the Titan One and Titan Two!

Hardware & Equipment

Here's a list of what you will need in order to controller bend like a Pro!
  • DDR Dance Pad
    • Pick one that connects to things with a USB port
    • If you have an old Pad like me you'll need a USB converter
    • In my case I have a PS2 Dance Pad which means I had to use a PS2 to PC Converter (Amazon $11)
  • Titan One
    • Easier than a Titan Two but way less modding capability
    • Amazon $60
  • Titan Two
    • A bit more pricey but it goes a long way
    • Amazon $130

Install JoyToKey

This program will allow you to play with your Dance pad on PC! If you don't want to program and allow changes on the fly, JoyToKey is a great fit for your Titan One and Titan Two. Let's go over how it works! Download here: https://joytokey.net/en/download.
Before Opening JoyToKey, Make sure your Dance Pad is connected to your PC or it won't be recognized by JoyToKey!

Here's what it looks like! A little bland but it does honest work. If your dance pad is recognized press a button on your pad! You'll notice a row will highlight yellow when a button is pressed. Double click that row and you'll open up the Assignment window. Don't worry about the other tabs for now, just focus the Keyboard tab. Under the Keyboard Emulation: Basic, change "None" to the key you want. Do this for every button on the dance pad. Check the slideshow!
Your JoyToKey doesn't need to look like mine, use whatever keys you want! Notice that the idea of JoyToKey is to make any controller supported turn into a keyboard. That means that you can also play PC games with your dance pad relatively easy. Up next we will go over how to use JoyToKey with the Titan One.

The Titan One and You

Before we start you'll need to download the Titan One software: GTunerPro. This will allow you to interface with the dance pad and the console. Make sure to install the MaxAim DI Plugin via the Plugin Installer.

If you are having issues downloading the plugins, I made a .zip with what you'll need.

How to connect your dance pad to your Titan One:
  1. Set-up JoyToKey for your Dance Pad
  2. Connect the PCPROG port to your PC
  3. Open Titan One's Max Aim DI Plugin (it will not open unless the Titan One is connected to the PC)
  4. Plug the Titan One into your Console
    1. If a "AU" LED error is displayed, connect the console's controller into your Titan One's TITAN port

Max Aim DI

The MaxAim DI program is awesome! You can replace every button input (represented by the white squares) with anything on your PC. Keyboard, mouse and even a Gamepad! Anything connected to your PC will show up when you right click the white square. If you left click the white squares the input will be sent to your console like magic. We will go over how to use your dance pad that's connected and set it up!
  1. Navigate to Tools -> Options -> Device
  2. Change the Output Protocol to the console of your choice
  3. Navigate to Plugins and select MaxAim
  4. Open "File" -> "New Empty Layout" and name it
  5. Head to "Layout Options" -> "Controller"-> change it to the controller you want
    1. The controller doesn't matter but it'll make your controls easier to understand
  6.  On Each White square you want to use, right click and add the keystroke to match your JoyToKey
Once you set up your MaxAim DI to your liking, you're ready to go! To start the process, click on "Enter Capture Mode". Warning: You will be locked into the MaxAim DI until you exit the program. All of your inputs on your keyboard/mouse/gamepad will be sent to the console and Alt-tabbing will cause the program to break. You'll get use to it the more you use it. With this process you can see my playing my Nintendo Switch with my dance pad using the Titan One without any programming. The "Enter Capture Mode will be grayed out once it's active
